As homeschooling parents, it can be tough to find resources that specifically teach our kids what they need to know in order to prepare for the sixth-grade exams in Quebec. While there isn't much information out there on exactly what students will need to do since the exams do change, we do know that a reading response essay has always been a part of the sixth-grade English Language Arts exam.
I made this self-paced workbook for my own sixth-grader to help them prepare for the coming exams and hope that it will help your learners as well! It walks kids through writing a reading response essay without it being overwhelming. It gives examples, sentence stems, and explanations on everything that should be included (such as themes, connections, mood, tone, etc) It is 15 pages, includes a short story that can be read or listened to, and can be done at their own pace.
